MG GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser (Daban)

Hi guys, here's my review for the long awaited Daban MG 00 Raiser ;)

Manufacturer: Daban
Scale: 1/100
Grade: MG
Origin: Gundam 00
Price: RM145 (Interested? Contact me at DuelMasterNG@yahoo.com)

Please take note that I only did some panel lining on this kit since the color separations are done to near perfect ;)

Section 1: Runners

Detailing are very good! I would say it is up to 98% as good compare to the original. However, I don't like the finishing of the plastics... it is a bit too glossy for my taste but can easily fixed with flat top-coat :p

The plastic is a little soft so do take extra caution during trimming ;)

Section 2: Decals & Accessories

This kit comes with 1 set of dry-sticker (yellow background below), 1 set of dry-transfer (light-blue background below), and the usual foil stickers.

The quality of the dry-stickers and dry-transfer are as good as the original, and the foil stickers are not bad at all :) Usually I skip the foil stickers but in the case of 00 Raiser, we do need them for the GN condensers :P

For the 1st batch of production, 5 LEDs are included (only for 1st batch, so good luck if you have not get your unit). Surely the quality cannot match with the original but it'll get the job done ;)

Section 3: Weaponry

Well, in case you are not familiar with 00, this kit comes with 2x Beam Saber, 2x GN Shield, 2x GN Sword II, and 1x GN Sword III.

GN Sword III

Section 4: Skeleton Build - 0 Raiser

Just for those of you who owned the NG version and curious, the 0 Raiser does comes with inner frame ;)

Section 5: Skeleton Build - 00 Gundam

The Legs

Detailing are very good, and arrticulations are very good! Very close to the original ;)

The Waist

Pretty straight-forward build ;)

The Chest

The pull-out mechanism would allow the shoulder joints to be pulled out for more dynamic posing. The upperbody can swing left & right, where the torso joint allow swinging front & back ;)

The Shoulders

Straight-forward build :)

The Arms

Excellent articulations for the arms! The elbow joints are a bit tight, but this is a good issue ;)

The Head

Excellent parts separations. I did not use the sticker for the eyes, and I forgot to put the stickers for the GN condenser (the ears) and decided to keep it that way :P

The Naked 00 Gundam with GN Sword III :P

Section 6: The GN Drives

Pretty nicely done backpack with twin GN drives ;) There's a locking mechanism to prevent the GN drive dropping down when in docking mode (00 Raiser) due to the weight of the wings :P

Section 7: Skeleton Build - Posing :P

The Naked 00 Gundam with GN Drives :P

The Naked 00 Gundam Posing with GN Sword II :P

The Naked 00 Raiser :P

Section 8: The Legs

Pretty straight-forward build with very good articulations. Parts separations are well done with no snap-fit issue ;)

Recommendation: Apply a tad bit of super glue on the edge of the green transparent parts (GN condenser) so that it sticks ;)

Section 9: Waist

A very nice waist ;) Setsuna's Gundam have no front skirts so hindrance is very minimum. The hip joints can move up & down depending on posing requirement.

Section 10: Chest

Excellent parts separations with good articulations, even this is the chest we are talking about :P Snap-fitting pretty well here too ;)

Section 11: Arms

Nicely articulated despite the elbow joints are a bit tight :P This kit comes with a pair of usual MG articulated hands, and a part of fixed hands with exchangeable fingers for various posing ;)

Section 12: Shoulders

Pretty straight-forward build and nothing much to mention :P

Section 13: Semi-Completed Mecha

Purposely leaving the right arm and left leg naked for photo ops :P

Section 14: 00 Gundam

Ready to Launch

00 Gundam, Launching

00 Gundam with GN Sword II & GN Shield

Section 15: 0 Raiser with GN Sword III

Section 16: 00 Raiser with Raiser Sword!

Quick Review

Plastic Quality and Detailing

Detailing for this kit is excellent... I would say this is as close as 98% to the original. As for the plastic, I personally do not like the finishing to be this glossy but nothing cannot be fixed with the flat top-coat ;)

The plastic quality is a bit softer than the usual Gao Gao/TT Hongli quality so one have to be a little extra caution when trimming.

The semi-transparent parts could have been a little more shinier but they are not, so I'm a bit disappointed by that :P

Articulations

Articulations are very good!
  • Head/Neck: Good!
  • Shoulder: Excellent!
  • Arm/Elbow: Excellent!
  • Wrist: Excellent.
  • Hand: Good.
  • Waist: Good.
  • Skirt Armour: Good.
  • Hip/Tight: Excellent.
  • Knee: Excellent.
  • Ankle: Good.
  • Feet: Good.

Looks and Feels

The detailing is pretty good and come close to 98% of the original! The plastic quality is a bit softer than the usual Gao Gao/TT Hongli quality but this is no issue at all. A little disappointment is that the semi-transparent parts could have been a little more shinier but they are not :P

The snap-fit is very nicely done as I do not have any issue at all snapfitting the whole kit. The joints are also tight enough to hold the position even with some challenging poses ;)

Overall, this kit is VERY nice and a very viable replacement of the original if you are tight in budget or want to customise additional 00 Raiser i.e. Inspector color ;)

As usual, for those of you who can afford, do buy and support original ;)

Fin :)

There's no MG 00 Raiser from Gao Gao/TT Hongli so this is what you have to go with if you are looking for bootleg ;) IMO, Daban = Gao Gao (new models) ;)

  2. PERTAMAX!

Very nice review, in this early launch 00 Raiser Daban Model. I really sure this Production will make near original from B based on Daban's Kit release and its more and more 'same as' since ARF. I really appreciate this kit 00 Raiser is my favorite also with 5 LED at first batch will cure all modeller needs ;)

    1. Don't understand what you mean... if you are thinking about joining both GN Sword II and using the effect parts, yes.

  5. well, I mean about the posing, if you can turn forward the binders without any problems and also using the effect parts for the gn sword II ;)

    1. The binders can be turned to front cannot turn up side way like the NG counterpart...

  7. Hello from Montreal, Canada! :-)

Thanks for the great review and many pictures! By the way, after having built 4 other fake Gundam's (TT Hongli), this is the best copy I have seen so far. I have only built the torso, head and backpack, but the quality is twice better than that of the other copies. On the Strike Noir, Destiny, Infinite Justice and Exia, I had to use glue, but for the time being, 00 Raiser seems not to need any. Snap-fit does not work 100% as well as on Bandai Gundam's, but is still functional without glue on the Daban 00 Raiser. Just one question:

In my previous TT Hongli builds, I was disappointed about the fact that the MG's were unable to stand on their own: the joints were not sufficiently stiff at the heels and "toes" more especially (and sometimes even at the hip joint in the case of the Strike Noir).

Can the MG 00 raiser stand on its own (without the 0 raiser in the back/shoulders for a start, but even the genuine 00 raiser has trouble standing with the 0 Raiser)? Is it stable on its feet? :-)

Thanks again and have a great day!

    1. Thanks for visiting :)

Of the 4 bootlegs you have built, 3 of them are from the SEED series, and it is well known that SEED kits are mostly with big backpack and hard to balance on standing pose, be it Bandai or TT Hongli :P

The MG 00 Gundam can stand on its own with no problem as you can see in some pictures above :) but it will be a different story with the 0 Raiser attached due to the weight.

      Cheers,

    2. Hi!

regarding the MG Hongli SEED models, mine were barely able to stand even without their backpacks (and by standing, I just mean: "stand straight" with legs slightly apart for better balance... other poses were difficult without an action base), because of the joints that were not sufficiently stiff i.e. the polycaps were not sufficiently stiff! However, the issue seems to be resolved in the MG raiser. The Daban polycaps seem to be better than the TT Hongli polycaps. This was really the critical issue with "non-B" Gundam MG models ;-) Now it seems to be solved! Which is great news!

      Best!

    3. Hmmmm finally after close scrutiny, the PC's are only marginally better... However the quality of the plastic and accuracy of the parts are in general greatly improved. Also, articulations rely on PC's very little... All of this explains the sturdiness of joints for the time being. Once again, bravo for the snap-fit assembly... great job on that Daban!

  8. One last thing: I will recommend to builders to pay attention to the ball joint on the hip assembly/sideskirt interface. They break easily! I will have to repair one on the right side!

JESUS IS COMING AGAIN AND THE SIGNS OF THE END TIMES THAT WERE FORETOLD IN THE BIBLE ARE COMMING TO PASS, AND THAT ISLAM IS THE ANTICHRIST SYSTEM!

  9. Done the waist and legs... this model is a lot better than the MG SEED line (Hongli) when it comes to standing on its own, but balance is not perfect "out of the box"...

  10. Hmmm mine still has some annoying issues with the ankle joints: too weak, once fully equipped (without the raiser though), 00 gun dam still has trouble standing and will have a tendency to fall backwards or forwards... Good kit apart from they, best MG knockoff I've built! Will need to tweak those joints and rein force them (they have stress marks...) Best!

  11. i just want to ask regarding in the LED lights that are included. you said it is only available for the first batch of production? so it means that when i buy that now. the LED are not included anymore?

    1. You would have to confirm with the seller if LEDs are included :)

  12. Hi, I'd brought this kit three months ago, and I have problem with the LED. When i inserted the battery, the cap won't shut properly, even if i push it hard it won't close well.
Also with the on-off button. If i turn it off, the LED's still turn on...

The other parts seems work well, and my problem is only with the batteries..
Do you have the same problem with me? or i should change the batteries? because it seems the height size of the batteries are higher than it's place.
    thank you...

    1. I do not have the problem... does this happened to all the 5 LEDs?

The battery should be LR41, so if you are not getting the right model so probably you should change the batteries...

  13. yes, it happened with all the 5 LED..well, i'll try to change the batteries first. thank you any way...

  14. hi again..

I still have problem with this model, i hope you can help me.
the problem is that the both hand (small part of the inner hand that holds the weapon) can't hold tightly the weapon. every time I slip the weapon's handle into that small holder, the weapon can't stick well and soon it will fall. so, finally i use my cutter to drawstring the inner hand around the small holder so that the small holder can get in into the weapon's handle' hole. But, it seems that my work does not fix the problem...so, watching your OO raiser holding the big weapon really make me jealous...:'(

    thanks..

    1. I don't think I can offer any help in this situation as you have already did something with the hands... other alternative is to change the hand to Builder Parts weapon holding hands or exchangeable hands from other kits.

  15. hello
    recently i bought this kit
i wanna ask, how about snapfit of this kit ?
do you need to cut extra parts or glue ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Pertaining to your questions,,,

      1. Snapfit is alright.
      2. No need to "cut extra parts", if you do mean trimming ;)
      3. Generally, no need to use glue. However, you might want some parts to fix into place permanently so you may still use glue ;)

      Cheers,

  17. How did you insert the LED in the side binders? the led included is too big to fit... help :)

  18. I bought this kit (and MG 7 Sword) thanks to this review. It's pretty good, so much better than some fake kits that I bought earlier, but in the end I think I'll return to original releases. Less headache on snap-fitting and clean up.
