RG MS-06F Zaku II (Bandai)

Hi guys :) How's things? Finally, my 1st review of RG ;) Instead of my usual 7MP old camera, I am using the 5MP phone camera of my Samsung Galaxy SL for the pictures and the quality is not too bad :P

Manufacturer: Bandai
Scale: 1/144
Grade: RG

Origin: Gundam
Price: 2500 Yen

Part 1: Runners

That's a lot of runner for a 1/144 scaled Gunpla :) Parts separation and color separation are done excellently, kudos to Bandai!

Part 2: Decals

It is already well known that RG comes with a lot of decals :) The decals are nicely done but I do hope that they at least 2 sets of the big digits/characters :P

Part 3: Weaponry

Well, I decided to assemble the weaponry first :P Once again, parts separation is very nice :) I just colored the blade of the heathawk with metallic red instead.

Part 4: Advanced MS Joint 2

I must say the Advanced MS Joint is really a piece of art! Articulations are just fantastic. The only downside is that it is small, and it makes it fragile...

I would recommend to all modeller to play around with the joint (posing or bending etc.) to loosen up the joints before moving ahead... you could see the movement of the joints while in this skeleton mode so you would know what to look out for to not accidentally break the joint while playing with it after completion ;)

Standard Pose

Just to demonstrate the bending of the elbow and knee :)

Part 5: Legs

It took me around 4 hours to do the complete both legs... The detailing is fantastic, and I just love the end product :) Well, I did partial coloring of the details with gold, silver and metallic green so it took some time.

As you can see from the pictures below, the articulations remain even after the external armor!

Part 6: Waist

The waist unit is pretty straight-forward :) The abs can be tilted forward and backward allowing more posing possibility. The skirts would get into the way (happen to ALL Zaku) while posing tho but mostly could be resolved by some careful placement of the skirt pieces ;)

Part 7: Chest & Backpack

Once again, parts separation is excellent! The shoulder joint employed a pull-out mechanism so you could imagine the posing possibility here ;)

Part 8: Head

Nicely done! There are also extra parts should you want to make this a commander unit with 2 options of antenna ;)

Part 9: Boxing?

Actually, I wanted to showcase the excellent arm articulations :P

Part 10: Completed with Decals!

Let's enjoy some pictures ;)

Hand-to-Hand Combat :P

Quick Review

Plastic Quality, Detailing, and Color Separation

Excellent! Hands-down :P There is no way any bootleg manufacturer could invade this space!

With my experience with TT Hongly, the detailing would go nearly disappear if they would to do a bootleg; and with Dragon Momoko, the Advanced MS Joint would break into small pieces before you know it. I don't even border with GHD :)

Get the original! It worth every penny you pay ;)

Articulations

You can expect an excellent score in this department ;)
  • Head/Neck: Excellent!
  • Shoulder:Excellent!
  • Arm/Elbow: Excellent!
  • Wrist: Normal+.
  • Hand: Very good!
  • Waist: Good.
  • Skirt Armour: Good.
  • Hip/Tight: Excellent!
  • Knee: Excellent!
  • Ankle: Very good!
  • Feet: Excellent!

Looks and Feels

I felt in love with this kit while fixing up the leg! This kit is a piece of art! I just wish that future MGs would adapt the similar joint system :)

You would need a bit of patience with RG but it is worth :) Get one and see for yourself.

Fin ;)
