HG Age-1 Razor Special (Dragon Momoko)

Hi folks :) Here's the 4th of Dragon Momoko HG Age-1 series, Razor Special Edition which surpass Bandai once again!

Manufacturer: Dragon Momoko
Scale: 1/144
Grade: HG
Origin: Gundam AGE (Game)
Price: RM30 (Contact me at DuelMasterNG@yahoo.com for availability)

Please take note that I did minor coloring and panel lining ;)

Section 1: Runners

Detailing are fantastic! Good job, Dragon Momoko! Since there's no original Age-1 Razor to compare with, it is going to be my own scoring... so against the rest of the original HG Age kits, I would give a score of 110/100 for this Razor :)

The closer comparison is actually the Age-1 Razor ware by one of the hobby magazine but they are molded in a single White color without the deploy-able shin blade... Dragon Momoko made the shin Razor deploy-able, and with transparent parts! All in all there are just 4 pieces of transparent parts but the outcome is really amazing!

The plastics quality is pretty good so you can treat it like mostly an original ;)

Same as the previous releases, instead of being like Bandai where multiple colors are molded on a single runner, Dragon Momoko separates into single-color runner :P

Foil Stickers

Not bad in quality ;)

Section 2: Legs

Very good detailing :) The feet are a bit thin for single-leg standing action :P Articulation is amazing with no snap-fit issue. Side-by-side is Age-1 normal from Dragon Momoko for comparison ;)

Note: Dragon Momoko corrected the PC7/PC1 error for the tights/hip joint now :P

Section 3: Waist

The most complicated waist unit for the Age-1 series so far :P I actually superglue the front skirt a bit to prevent it from falling apart with extreme posing ;)

Snap-fitting nicely.

Section 4: Chest

Same "core" block for all Age-1 kits :P No much else to mention except the same as before... Pretty straight-forward build, excellent parts separations and great shoulder articulations, credit to Bandai ;)

Section 5: Arms & Shoulders

Pretty good arms articulations for a HG with no snap-fitting issue :)

Demonstration of Articulations ;)

A little better articulation side-way compare to Age-1 Normal.

Section 6: Head

Same as the Age-1 Normal version... Very nice parts separations :) The foil sticker for the sensors also fit nicely.

Section 7: Weaponry

Well, here's the main attraction of this kit... the Razor blade ;) I'm showing only the main Razor blades here but there are 2 more smaller Razor blade mounted on its shin.

The 2 Razor blades could be mounted at various "mount point" on this kit, and I'll be showing below for the forearm mounting and shoulder mounting.

Razor Blades

Razor Boomerang

By combining 2 Razor blades ;)

Mounting on Forearm

Backward Mounting

Forward Mounting

Mounting on Shoulder

I did not try backward mounting but it could be possible too :P

Section 8: Action Posing Time

This kit is with excellent articulation so it is highly pose-able ;)

Getting Ready to Throw the Boomerang ;)

Section 9 : Happy Family

For the time being ;)

Quick Review

Plastic Quality and Detailing

Since this is the 4th installation of Age-1 series, this review won't be much different then the rest as I spotted the quality is as good ;)

The plastic quality pretty good so no extra precaution needed... just treat this as other plastic kit ;)

Articulations

Articulations are fantastic for a HG! Good work, BANDAI (for the core design of Age-1) and DRAGON MOMOKO (for actually making the Age-1 Razor)!

  • Head/Neck: Normal.
  • Shoulder: Excellent! Able to do very handsome posing ;)
  • Arm/Elbow: Good!
  • Wrist: Normal.
  • Hand: Normal.
  • Waist: Good!
  • Skirt Armour: Good!
  • Hip/Tight: Very good!
  • Knee: Excellent!
  • Ankle: Normal.

Looks and Feels

The detailing are nicely done and no lost of any detailing. Just be extra careful not to poke your own hand with the VERY SHARP V-Fin ;)

Not much to say as there is actually no original Razor kit to compare with :P The closest resemblance is the Razor ware by one of the Hobby Magazine which is molded in white color only. This is a "must get" no matter you are a fan of the Age series or not. I highly recommend this ;)

Fin :)

  4. the hg age 1 razor was released with a certain issue of Hobby Japan, so technically it was also made by bandai so the fact they made bootleg of a limited and exclusive kit is cool.
